Kevin Peterson excelled at football and wrestling at South Kitsap and went on to earn several accolades at Eastern
Kevin Peterson, is a 1993 graduate of South Kitsap High School where he was a two-time First Team All-Narrows League selection at defensive end. He was also an accomplished wrestler, being named 1991 Puget Sound Wrestler of the Year at heavyweight, a two-time Sub-Regional Champion, and three-time Mat Classic participant.
At Eastern Washington University, Peterson was a four-year starter at center. During his collegiate career, he started 43 straight games for a vaunted offensive line that led the FCS (then 1-AA) in total offense during his 1997 senior year. His 45 career starts were a school record at the time.
Peterson was named to First Team All-Big Sky as well a First Team All-American by both Walter Camp and ESPN as a senior. During that year, while serving as a team captain, Peterson helped lead the Eagles to a then-school record 12 wins, making it to the FCS semifinals. In 2008, he was named as one of Eastern Washington’s Top 100 players of all time in the 100 years of EWU football. Members of that 100 for 100 list also included former South Kitsap coach Ed Fisher and South Kitsap teammate Derek Strey, who is also being inducted in the class of 2019.
