Both North Mason and North Kitsap won their Olympic League 2A matches Tuesday, setting up a showdown of two undefeated teams Thursday. The Vikings (5-1 overall, 4-0 OL) host the Bulldogs (5-1, 5-0) for a scheduled 6:15 p.m. match in Poulsbo.
The winner will take over sole possession of first place with a little more than a month left in the regular season.
“It’s mid-season and we’re pushing forward for a strong finish in our league standings,” North Mason coach Kanoe Lilly said after the Bulldogs beat Sequim 3-1 Tuesday. “We know there are teams in our conference that will make us work to earn our position and we are excited with the growth opportunities that have and will come to us.”
Against Sequim, Hallie Hicks finished with 26 digs, 24 kills and four aces. Hannah Fredrickson had 21 digs, eight kills and five aces while Morgan Shumaker added 10 kills and three blocks. Game scores were 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17.
Crosspoint 3, Tacoma Baptist 0
It wasn’t a pretty win but it was a win nonetheless, said Warriors coach Ellen Baxter. Game scores against Tacoma (3-7, 0-4) were 25-12, 25-12 25-6.
Kenzie Anderson returned to the court for Crosspoint (4-2, 4-1) after an injury that kept her out the last few matches and finished with 11 aces and 13 assists. Baxter said with Anderson back in the setter position, Crosspoint is switching from a 6-2 rotation to a 5-1 (single setter) rotation.
