Bainbridge’s Kevin Houseman competed in the C finals Saturday

Under the sun at the Avery Aquatics Center at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, Bainbridge’s Kevin Houseman went head-to-head against some of the best breaststrokers in the nation Saturday.

Houseman’s morning prelim time of 1 minute, 1.73 seconds was good enough to get him into the C finals in the 100-meter breaststroke at the U.S. Swimming National championships.

Houseman followed that swim with an even faster final, touching the wall in 1:01.46 to finish fourth.

Poulsbo Piranhas Swim Team’s Tim Gallagher of Kingston competed in the 100 backstroke in the prelim session with a time of 56.89. He did not qualify for the evening finals.

Houseman will be staying in California to compete at Stanford next week in the U.S. Junior National Championships.
