Port Orchard’s Mitchell Neiner made it through to the finals in the 106-pound freestyle class at the USMC Cadet and Junior National Wrestling Championships this week in Fargo, North Dakota.

Neiner faced Evan Tallmadge of New Jersey. Tallmadge beat Neiner 10-8 in the championship. North Kitsap product Holly Beaudoin and Elise Scrafford, both of Poulsbo, helped Team Washington win the national title with 65 points, breaking California’s nine-year stranglehold. California finished with 53 points.

Beaudoin placed fourth in the 117-pound division in the women’s junior class. 

Thor Michaelson of Bremerton finished sixth in the freestyle at 138 pounds. Robert Gomez of Poulsbo went 1-2 in the 132-pound freestyle class for Team Washington.
