Bremerton resident Chloe Dygert Owen won her first UCI cycling event after taking 11 months off to recover from a concussion.
Dygert Owen, who is married to Bremerton’s Logan Owen and who is also a professional cyclist, won the overall and crit race on Sunday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Dygert Owen, who races for Twenty20Pro, finished the course with an overall time of 6 hours, 38 minutes and 18 seconds. Shannon Malseed of Australia was just 19 seconds behind to finish second in 6:38.37.
The race is part of the UCI America’s Tour and began in 1978 as the Fayetteville Spring Classic. It was renamed to honor Joe Marin, the race director, in 1988 after his death.
