Central Kitsap’s Brittany Kwon competed late last week in the ANA Junior Inspiration golf tournament in Ranco Mirage, Calif., and finished tied for 43rd in the field.

Kwon, a three-time 3A state golf champion, was invited to play at the event as a Seattle Gateway City qualifier awarded by the American Junior Golf Association.

Kwon shot a total of 234 in the three-round tournament with round scores of 75, 74 and 85 at the Mission Hills Country Club. Winner Xin (Cindy) Kou shot a 71-70-71 for a total 212 score.

Kou earned an amateur exemption into this week’s ANA Inspiration, the first major championship of the year for the LPGA.

Kwon’s final round saw her paired with LPGA legend Brandie Burton as they played on the Dinah Shore tournament course.
