Central Kitsap survives opening day of 3A WC/SWD

The Bainbridge Spartans softball team lost to defending champion Redmond 8-1 on Thursday in the SeaKing District 3A semifinals at the Southwest Athletic Complex in Lacey.

The Spartans will play Blanchet at 5 p.m. Friday for the district’s third-fourth seed.

Central Kitsap survived the first day of the Class 3A West Central/Southwest District tournament on Thursday and will face a loser-out game at 9 a.m. Saturday against Yelm at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.

The Cougars lost their opener, 11-1 to Bonney Lake, then bounced back nicely in a loser-out game against Spanaway Lake, 12-3. CK needs to win twice to seal the deal for one of the district’s berths to state.
