Bainbridge walloped West Seattle 11-2 on Thursday to advance to the Metro League 3A softball championship Friday at SWAC.

The Spartans scored in the first five innings to take a commanding lead as Kensey Baker finished the game 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run, Malia Peato went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs and Sara Colley drove in two runs, scored twice and had a hit and a walk.

UPDATE: Holy Names held off Bainbridge, 6-4, last Friday in the Metro League title game. The Cougars scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh on an error to break a 4-4 tie.

Bainbridge is the No. 2 seed into the Seaking District tournament and will play at 3 p.m. Tuesday against either West Seattle or Bellevue at the SWAC.

Baseball: Peterson pitches Evergreen to a regional berth

Port Orchard’s Liam Peterson earned the win as Evergreen Lutheran beat Lake Quinault 4-3 in eight innings in a Class 2B Bi-District semifinal baseball game Thursday at Franklin Pierce in Tacoma.

Peterson pitched three innings of relief, giving up one hit in a shutout while striking out six. He also went 1-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and a run scored.
