Olympic College freshman Kaitlyn Paller continued her strong performances at the collegiate track and field level with a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw at the Jay Hammer Invite at Saint Martin’s University last Saturday in Lacey.
Paller had a throw of 158 feet, 6 inches, breaking her previous school record of 141.
Ranger Elijah Sousou and Chris Sevilla each placed fourth in the shot put (45 feet) and javelin (160 feet) respectively. Nicholas Bourgios finished the steeplechase with a time of 10 minutes, 50 seconds; the 800 meter run in 2:08 and also competed in the 4×400 relay. Julia Claeys finished the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:25.
On a rainy day at Saint Martin University’s Jay Hammer Invite some strong performances were Kaitlyn Paller with a 4th place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.33 (158’ 6”) breaking her previous school record of 141’, Nicholas Bourgios with strong performances in the steeplechase 10:50, 800m 2:08, and a strong leg in the 4x400m relay, Julia Claeys had a strong performance in the 1500m with a 5:25.
Baseball: Rangers double up on wins vs. Shoreline
OC beat the Dolphins 12-2 and 5-2 on Wednesday at Legion Field.
In the opener, Jesse Morales pitched eight strong innings, giving up just two earned runs and scattering nine hits for the win. Scott Gunther drove in three runs and was 3-for-5 with a home run, while Cesar Cuevas finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two doubles and two runs scored for the Rangers.
In the second game, the Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning and added two more insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to secure the doubleheader sweep.
Austin Bayne went 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Aaron Meyer pitched 3 1/3 innings, with no earned runs and two hits for the win.
Softball: Rangers drop two to Edmonds
The Rangers offense struggled in doubleheader losses to Edmonds 14-4 and 11-0.
Mechelle Nisbet drove in three of Olympic’s four runs in the first game, going 2-for-3, while teammate Adia Roberts was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Nisbet also had a double and a home run.
