Olympic College freshman Jadin Left posted a shutout through four innings in a 14-6 win over Highline College in the opening game of a softball doubleheader Tuesday at Lions Field.
The Rangers wound up with a split as the Thunderbirds won the second game in the Northwest Athletic Conference North Division 10-8.
Olympic fell behind 6-1 through 2 1/2 innings before the offense found its groove. Kylie Tasaki leadoff the inning with a home run to left-center field and with one out Adia Roberts tripled in Mechelle Nesbet, who reached on a single. Taylar Clark added an RBI sacrifice fly to cut Highline’s lead to 6-4 in the third.
The Thunderbirds added four more runs for a 10-5 lead in the top of the seventh.
Olympic’s Sage Scott hit a home run to leadoff the seventh and was followed by Zoe Roberts’ double before the Rangers were down to their final out. Tasaki doubled in Roberts and Beyli Correa singled home Tasaki to make it 10-8. With two runners on Highline pitcher Rosie Delrosario got Adia Roberts to strike out swinging to end the game.
Correa finished with three RBIs and was 4-for-5 and Tasaki went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
The Rangers (7-11) host Skagit Valley in another NWAC North Division doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday at Lions Field.
