The Olympic College track and field team had a fourth-place finish at the prestigious Peyton Invitational at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma Saturday.
Freshman Kaitlyn Paller, who has already qualified for the Northwest Athletic Conference, placed second in the shot put and third in the discus with NWAC qualifying throws of 40 feet, five inches and 124 feet, respectively.
Fellow freshman Danielle Monzon was second in the long jump with a distance of 16-4. Bailey Castillo placed second in the javelin with a throw of 179-7.
For the men, Olympic had a few top placers.
Joshua Steffen won the triple jump with a personal best and NWC-qualifying distance of 44-3. Colton Paller won the discus with a throw of 161-4 and was third in the shot put in 45-2. Elijah Sousou finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 43-6.
Olympic’s Chris Sevilla finished second in the javelin with a throw of 179-7 while Joel Trousdale was second in the 400-meter race with a time of 53.62 seconds.
Up next for the Rangers is the Clackamas Multi-event meet Monday -Tuesday in Oregon City, Ore.
