BREMERTON — For 16 years the West Sound Senior High school All-Star Basketball games have showcased some of the best talent in the area while giving upperclassmen one more chance to compete.

That was certainly the case Wednesday at the Bremer Student Center gym at Olympic College as a full-house came out to cheer on their friends, teammates and family one last time.

The girls opened the doubleheader as Team Cascade defeated Team Puget Sound 39-34. Central Kitsap’s Olivia Krog beat Kiki Mitchell to win the 3-point contest while Avy Hinner was the hot-shot shooting contest winner over her Kingston teammate Karliegh Gomez.

Mitchell and Gomez each had eight points to lead Team Cascade. Team Puget Sound was led by the 10 points from Vanessa Davies of Central Kitsap. Puget Sound was coached by Olympic College women’s basketball coach Dave Hawkins. Team Cascade was coached by Peninsula women’s coach Alison Crumb.

For the boys, Team Puget Sound pulled out a 77-72 win over Team Cascade. Puget Sound’s Zac Olmstead, of North Kitsap, led all players with 18 points while North Mason’s Trey Fischer finished with 14 points and NK’s Kainen Warren had 11 points. Jackson Kimmel of Crosspoint chipped in 10 points.

Team Cascade’s Jaiden Mosley of Olympic and Central Kitsap’s Dylan McConnell each had 13 points. CK’s Dominic Telemaque finished with 11 points. Team Puget Sound was coached by Olympic College men’s basketball coach Craig Murray. Team Cascade was coached by Peninsula College coach Mitch Freeman.

Bainbridge’s Charlie Hoberg won the hot-shot contest and Bremerton’s James Reed won the 3-point contest.

The all-star games were presented by Sports Beyond, the Kitsap Athletic Roundtable, Fleury Financial Group, Inc., Cooper’s Fuel and Auto Repair, Benik Corporation, ISPNSports.com, and Noah’s Ark Restaurant.
