Nathan Adrian had the fifth-fastest time in the preliminaries then came out and smoked the field in the finals of the 100-meter freestyle Thursday at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Atlanta.
The Bremerton native and Olympic champion won in 48.58 seconds, almost a full second ahead of runner-up Vlad Morozov of Tucson Swim Club in 49.21. Morozov and Adrian were neck-and-neck at the 50-meter turn but Adrian pulled ahead for the win.
Adrian had a time of 49.75 seconds in the prelims.
He’s scheduled to swim in Friday’s 50 freestyle. Prelims are at 7 a.m. local time. Finals are at 4 p.m. Livestreaming of the meet can be found at usaswimming.org.
