Kingston junior Tim Gallagher was named the boys Class 2A athlete of the week by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association for swimming.
The announcement was made Wednesday by the WIAA.
Gallagher helped the Buccaneers beat Olympic in a showdown of the top two teams in the Olympic League. Kingston won 106.5 to 69.5 last Thursday at Olympic Aquatic Center in East Bremerton.
Gallagher won the 200-yard freestyle and 500 free. In the 500, Gallagher kept pace with Oly’s Burchell as Burchell carried the lead through 450 yards. It was in the final turn and last 25 yards that Gallagher made his move and out-touched Burchell at the wall in 4:41.65 to 4:41.98.
Gallagher was also part of the winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
