Talk about showcasing one’s talent.
The West Sound Warriors capitalized on a week in front of scouts from college to professional ranks by winning all three of their games at the WSHL College Showcase in Las Vegas.
West Sound beat the Springfield Express 3-2 in overtime to complete a 3-0 week.
The Warriors fell behind 1-0 in the first period, but Hunter Best scored off a Caleb Travis assist to tie the game. Connor Wherrett scored the go-ahead goal, thanks to an assist from Erik Safstram, but Springfield tied it with 16 seconds left in the half.
Neither team gained an advantage in regulation and the game went to overtime tied 2-2.
Safstram and Ethan Cooney combined on the game-winning assist to Sam Pelech who scored with 37 seconds left to give the Warriors the win. Brian Eisele earned the win in goal, making 29 saves.
West Sound (13-12-1, 35 points) is in command of second place in the Northwest Divison after picking up six points in Las Vegas.
The Warriors’ next game is Jan. 5 at Bellingham, then they return to Bremerton Ice Arena for a game against Bellingham Jan. 6.
