A hat trick by captain Connor Wherrett and three assists from Ty-Andrew Traynor helped the West Sound Warriors to a 6-3 win over the Fresno Monsters at the WSHL College Showcase Wednesday in Las Vegas.

The win also catipulted the Warriors into second place in the Northwest Division. Fresno plays in the Western Division.

Wherrett scored two of his goals in the first half — the games are played in two 25-minutes halves instead of three 20-minute periods — as West Sound jumped to a 5-1 lead and the team didn’t look back. Traynor assisted on two of Wherrett’s goals.

The Warriors spread out their offense as Michael Perez finished with two assists while Ethan Cooney, Bryce Ebert, Dmitri Munirov and Mattias Wikstrom all had assists. Erik Safstram and Samuel Pelech each had a goal and an assist. Caleb Travis added a goal.

West Sound plays its final game at the showcase at 1:15 p.m. Thursday against the Springfield Express of the Mid-Western Division.
