Bainbridge Island Swim Club and Poulsbo Piranhas Swim Club had strong showings at the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals West in Iowa City, Iowa, Dec. 6-9.

Bainbridge placed fifth in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3 minutes, 20.55 seconds. The relay included Garrett Waite, Kevin Houseman, Makai Ingalls and Jude Wenker.

BISC’s 400 free relay of Wenker, Waite, Andrew Witty and Ingalls, placed 10th in 3:03.75. The 200 medley relay of Waite, Houseman, Ingalls and Wenker, was 12th in 1:32.21 and the 200 free relay finished 20th in 1:24.66.

Individually, Waite was 17th in the 200 backstroke in 1:47.32, 18th in the 200 backstroke in 1:48.28, 22nd in the 400 IM in 3:57.68, 27th in the 200 IM, 1:50.29, and finished the 100 back in 50.85.

Houseman was 29th in 100 breaststroke in 56.34. Makai Ingalls finished in 21.10 in the 50 freestyle and was 49th in the 100 freestyle in 46.12, 73rd in the 100 fly in 50.46 and 87th in the 100 backstroke in 51.58.

BISC’s Eleanor Beers finished 45th in the 50 freestyle in 23.39 seconds, was 93rd in the 100 butterfly in 56.51, 66th in the 100 freestyle in 51.52 and 123rd in the 200 free in 1:55.15.

Poulsbo’s Ethan Fox was 88th in the 200 IM in 1:53.26. Fox also finished in 2:06.84 in the 200 breast while Houseman touched the wall in 2:07.15.

The Piranhas’ Tim Gallagher was 11th in the 100 back in 49.25, 13th in the 200 back in 1:47.72, 30th in the 200 IM in 1:50.41, 61st in the 400 IM in 4:03.23 and was 117th in the 100 freestyle in 51.30. The Piranhas 400 medley relay of Gallagher, Aron Markow, Ethan Fox and Nathan Rubie, in 3:25.75.

Poulsbo’s Nathan Ramey placed 65th in the 400 IM in 4:03.60 and was 76th in the 200 breast in 2:06.06.
