Bainbridge senior Erin Miller is seeded second in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly at the Class 3A state swimming championships during Friday’s prelims.
Miller is right behind Janelle Rudolph of Bellevue in the 50 free, 23.12 to 24.28, heading into Saturday morning’s final at the King County Aquatics Center pool in Federal Way. Miller is just off the pace of Bellevue’s Delora Li, 56.46 to 56.88.
The top 16 swimmers and divers move into the finals with the top eight qualifiers making the podium and receiving medals. Ribbons are awarded for ninth-16th placers.
Bainbridge’s Hannah Tonsmann is seeded fourth in the 200 freestyle and 100 free, divers Alathea Pippinger and Jackie Hellmers qualified 10th and 11th, respectively. The Spartans 200 free relay is the second seed behind Lakeside of Seattle while Central Kitsap is third. Bainbridge’s 400 free relay is third and Central Kitsap fifth.
Central Kitsap’s Haley Morkert made the finals in the 50 freestyle (eighth) and is seeded 10th in the 100 free. Teammate Taylor Sims is seeded seventh in the 200 individual medley and ninth in the 100 fly.
