Kingston divers Annelise Pardee and Haley Berger will see how well they’ve progressed this season after qualifying for the 2A West Central District meet at Lindbergh in Renton. The meet starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Pardee, a junior, and Berger, a senior, are the first divers from Kingston to qualify for districts.

Both girls dive for Bainbridge Island Dive Club and have experience. Pardee is seeded sixth and Berger 10th heading into districts. The top six divers qualify for the state meet, Nov. 10-11 at King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.

Mark Van Huis, the assistant girl’s coach and head boys coach,  learned more about diving to coach the girls as much as possible.

“It has been a collective effort of them diving at club practices and doing team practices with some travel to other facilities,” he said. “They have put in a ton of work, and in a very short period of time, they have witnessed incredible improvement.

“I can’t wait to see what districts will have in store for them,” said Van Huis.
