South Kitsap’s Drew Halili and Noah Gould are one step closer to fulfilling their goals this season.

The pair qualified for the Class 4A state boys golf tournament after successfully finishing among the top eight golfers at the South Puget Sound League tournament held at Gold Mountain Thursday and Friday.

Halili finished second overall while Gould placed eighth. The top eight automatically qualified for state. Halili, a senior, is among the contenders to win a state championship.

Halili said earlier this season his goal is to win the state tourney. Gould, a sophomore, wanted to qualify after missing out last year.
